Pakistan is preparing for Eid ul Adha 2025 with Qurbani arrangements underway across the country. Here is a comprehensive guide to moon sighting, Qurbani prices and preparations for the blessed occasion.
Moon Sighting
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will announce the official moon sighting date in due course. Eid ul Adha is expected to fall on the 10th of Zil Hajj, which based on astronomical calculations is likely to be around June 6-7, 2025, subject to official moon sighting.
Qurbani Prices in Major Cities
Cattle prices have increased this year due to general inflation and increased demand. In Karachi, a medium-sized cow is trading between PKR 150,000-250,000. Goats are available from PKR 40,000-100,000 depending on size and quality.
Mandi Locations
Cattle markets (mandis) have been established in designated locations in all major cities. Karachi has three main mandis in Sohrab Goth, Surjani Town and Gadap. Lahore’s main mandi is in Ravi Road.
Online Qurbani Services
Several organizations are offering online Qurbani services where you can book your share and have the meat distributed to those in need. These services are particularly popular among overseas Pakistanis and those who prefer not to manage the process themselves.
Safety and Hygiene
Health authorities have issued guidelines for safe Qurbani practices including proper waste disposal, hygiene during meat handling and safe blood drainage to prevent disease.
